The Little Theatre on Grange Road West is famously reputed to be one of the most haunted locations in Birkenhead . The historic playhouse—originally a church—is said to be home to an apparition of a gentleman believed to be an electrician Charlie who floats around, he sits in the front row ready to watch any comings or goings along with the odd show, shadows, noises and other distractions complete the little theatres odd ambience. The atmosphere is doubled by its environmental set up with few windows and dark areas.

The paranormal reputation of the building extends beyond real-life folklore. Because of the building's mysterious history, it is a popular venue for staging spooky productions . For example, the amateur dramatic groups that run the space frequently host classic supernatural whodunits, such as Arnold Ridley's The Ghost Train and Agatha Christie's The Hollow.
